So this week we open up with Chavo coming down to the ring complaining about how being thrown in to the gulf made him pretty damm sick. Almost as sick as it made us when he won the ECW championship? I think not. Chavo starts demanding a match with C.M Punk right now, the hopes of the viewers rose here, only to be crushed by Armando Estrada saying that match would be saved for the ppv and would be given away tonight, he announced C.M Punk vs Mark Henry tonight, im really looking forward to this, not that Mark Henry is a bad wrestler, i just think C.M Punk is a lot better and deserves better then Chavo and Henry.
On a more positive note Stevie Richards made an appearance, beating Rory Foxx, it’s always a good thing to have Richards back, shame he isn’t used more often I’d like to see him in the title picture with Punk but that’s just me. Kelly Kelly finally beat Layla after several times of trying. Mike Knox made a comeback facing and losing to the Booker T lookalike Kofi Kingston
A suprise for me was the fact that Tommy Dreamer beat John Morrison, after Morrison and Miz labelled Dreamer and Delaney losers. Dreamer ended up planting Morrison with a ddt to finish off the match as a winner. To end things off with had Punk vs Henry who is pretty much everywhere but on iMPACT nowadays. Punk won by DQ and sent a message to Chavo by sending Henry running with his tail between his legs.

February 7, 2008So the show opens with Punk talking about how he ruined Chavos Mariachi Fiesta last week and goes on to state he wants to invoke his rematch clause later in the night. However our ‘respectable’ champion comes out and states no rematch will take place till No Way Out, so at least we have that to look forward to! This leads to Armando Estrada to come out and say Chavo will indeed face Punk tonight, but not in any match…a gulf of Mexico match, the point of this match folks is to throw your opponent in to the Gulf of Mexico to gain the win, this however won’t be for the title.
We’ll start the matches with the divas tag match between Victoria and Layla facing Kelly Kelly and Michelle McCool, what a way to start the matches this week? Thats what i thought,i feel sorry for the divas really all of them are going to be humiliated by that horny devil of a chairman the WWE has. Well Victoria and Layla got the win over the Kelly and McCool and seem to have the edge to this rivalry having drafted Lena Yadas services and she proved the difference tripping Kelly so Victoria got the pin, what a finish to that match.
So things are looking optimistic for this show so on to the next match and we have John Morrison facing the ECW Innovator of violence himself Tommy Dreamer, this match saw Dreamer pretty much dominate Morrison for most of the match, until the Miz (probably still annoyed about being eliminated from the Rumble by Hornswoggle) dsitracted Dreamer from outside allowing Morrison to get the pinfall over Dreamer. Dreamer wasn’t alone folks he had Colin Delaney with him, doesn’t he just reak of Mickey Whipwreck?
Kofi Kingston wrestled against this week against James Curtis, this match was pretty much a replica of Kingstons previous ECW matches and yes he ended up with the win with a pin fall over Mr Curtis.
The main event has arrived,C.M Punk and Chavo is up next in the Gulf of Mexico match. The match pretty much starts off outside the ring and eventually ends up in the crowd and starts to lead outside the arena. The ending came when Punk hit the Go to sleep on Chavo sending him in to the Gulf giving Punk the win.
To be fair this weeks viewing of ECW was not to bad minus the divas match which you know if just there as a filler really, as are most of the divas matches. I quite liked the idea of Dreamer vs Morrison and although i was first skeptical about the Gulf of Mexico match it turned out to make the show better then expected in my eyes.

February 2, 2008Well seeing as this is our first blog, we decided to make it a week review, we won’t always just round up the week, but we thought it was a good way to start out.
So, obviously the topic of discussion for this week is the Royal Rumble.
What else can you say? The company threw everyone for a loop on Sunday night as they brought back the biggest star in the company as John Cena returned as the 30th man in the Royal Rumble, danced with both Batista and Triple H, and in the end, won the event. I don’t think that if you would have asked 1,000 people Sunday morning that know the product who was going to win the Royal Rumble, anyone would have guessed Cena.
That’s right, he’s back and perhaps bigger than ever. What a difference a day makes as the wrestling landscape going into Mania has been blow wide open by the return of John Cena. After winning the Rumble it will only be a matter of time till he is champ again. The WWE wasted no time by moving the potential Orton and Cena Mania match to No Way Out in two weeks. Sorry Randy, It looks like your days are done as champ. Don’t feel to sad though, you’ll get another chance in years to come. This time I’m afraid you just weren’t ready as your inability to carry any heat on your own became very clear. This will speed up things and allow Triple H to enter back into the main event picture. Tonight we saw the announcement of the elimination Chamber match. It will be H, Jericho, Umanga, JBL, Jeff Hardy and HBK. The winner takes on the WWE champ going out of No Way Out. I for one do not like the idea of fast tracking Cena back to the championship. But that’s another blog for another day. We can’t be spoiling all the fun at once, how else will we get you to come back to this site?
So that’s it for Raw, moving on to ECW.
The Chavo Guerrero Champion’s Fiesta was crashed by CM Punk. Punk clearly will not go quietly as the former champ after getting screwed in a no DQ match by an Edge spear. Punk crashed the party dressed as a Mariachi band member and hit Chavo over the head with a guitar. So it looks like we will see these two reignite a feud. Should be interesting to see if Punk ends up with the belt as I see him winning Money in the Bank at Mania. Perhaps they will forgo a ECW title match or maybe Punk will win it back an drop it before Mania, much like he did for the Rumble. In other Punk news he beat Elijah Burke clean to gain momentum again. And I feel its safe to say Burke’s days are done. He had been missing from ECW in the past few shows and this loss pretty much buried him.
SmackDown, I hear you ask?
This week’s SmackDown gave us more incite into No Way Out. And it looks as if the WWE is going the way of TNA. Bring on the gimmick matches. Not only do we get to see the Elimination Chamber for the Raw superstars, we will now see it with the SmackDown stars as well. Tonight Teddy Long, in place of an injured Vickie Guerrero, announced the Undertaker, Batista, Khali, Bid Daddy V, Finlay and MVP will face each other. The winner will take on the Heavyweight champ at Mania. Let me say this is so lame, the WWE is bigger than this. They don’t need to use the same gimmick on the same card. Have they really run out of ideas. It should be interesting to see if they can pull it off. Both Chamber matches should last at least 45 minutes and will no doubt dominate the show. Is it possible to keep both matches fresh and interesting? I really think the WWE is setting themselves up for a clunker here.
The other match announced for No Way Out is the rematch of Mysterio and Edge. Saw this one coming since neither major contender for the belt, Batista and Taker, won the rumble. I think it is safe to say Edge will win, so that raises the question as to what Mysterio’s role will be at Mania. Will he end up in ECW taking on Chavo, or will he find himself in Money in the Bank? For some odd reason I feel he will be in ECW, which would be a huge boost for the show. Only time will tell.
So, that’s it for this week, folks.
Rob
